when i was getting my tires changed on my 95 Lexus LS400 they told me i had an oil leak. i was planning on getting the oil changed anyway so when i did i told the oil guy what i had heard. he changed my oil and told me the oil pan gasket was leaking.
It simply means that the oil leak is significant enough to cause noticeable oil staining around the area of the seepage but not significant enough to show up on the dip stick in a week.
